Light Design were awarded the contract for the installation of the main room at the Arches in summer 2006 and had just 4 weeks to CAD, quote and install this impressive design. Working along side a specific brief, and design given by Mark Aimes the owner of the Arches, Light Design set about implementing this now Legendary combination, of truss led and moving heads and completed the actual installation part in just under 7 days.
The implementation of this massive project was no easy feet and took a large team working closely with various suppliers working on specialist custom pieces to bring it all together
The team was headed up by Terry Lewsey Project manager who truly worked round the clock to make this installation happen working with Jaspal Bhuliar on a whole range of CAD before the final design was approved by Mark Aimes
Almost all of the truss installation for this special project was custom and the design meant that the tolerance for error was very small the only logical choice for this almost impossible task was to use Milos Trussing. Terry Lewsey contacted Glen Brown Managing Director at Milos and he was enthusiastic right from the start Glen Brown worked on many small changes to make the installation perfect and then set about the tight turn around for manufacture of this complex bespoke design
Terry lewsey need a solution to bring the design to life a solution that made this impressive structure part of the light show not just somewhere to hang lights so he consulted old friend Rob Watts of instyle led who worked with Terry lewsey on the custom led look for the internal lighting of the bespoke truss arches. Using the surface mounted rgb down lighters mounted in a custom doughty half coupler they just disappear into the truss matching perfectly due to a near match on the colour of the aluminium and light the truss in a myriad of colour that now complements the light show and look of the venue.
A new electrical installation was required to power this large system and our in house technical wizard and power specialist James Gunson headed up the team working on this round the clock with Michael lewsey our new technician only 14 days into his new job and already embarking on the largest installation project we had done to date James and Michael also installed all of the moving lights and leds working alongside Jaspal and Patrick Murphy who worked many graveyard shifts to bring the project together
The Installation on this impressive project consists of over 100m of bespoke custom curved trussing following the curve of the arch, lit with custom colour changing LED’s, The result is six glowing arches of polished aluminium lattice, from which the main entertainment lighting is suspended.
The lighting rig features a list of the best of the best from the lighting world with fixtures from Clay Paky Martin and Robe topped off with two 1500mw Aurora white light lasers supplied by Rill
Rill managed by Terry Lewsey and Stuart Paton specially commissioned 2x Rill Aurora 1500mm pro systems run from Pangolin Laser show designer to finish the design off seeing the implementation of a £60000 laser show now permanently installed as a spectacle and the and result does truly look stunning
